Well done Dark. I think the biggest clue though came from my signature down there.

All weapons in the section have BAe Night Aiming Device laser designators, used with our night vision goggles (the lasers are IR- can't be seen with the naked eye or Gen 1 II tubes) and I have an Elcan made Wildcat 3.5x Ehanced Optic Sight (the normal Austeyr sights are 1.5x) as I'm the 1st Scout in the section, and need the extra observation capability, and I'm also the designated marksman for any precision targets that need to be taken out (ie a target in the middle of a crowd).

haha nice! scout eh!

I went on cadet regional camp in the hols. got to use WETS, NV(same stuff u were using in the first foto) and shoot live steyr rounds. in WETS when i was shooting my instructor was telling me to squeeze, and i did ,and i was firign two shots, and then i squeezed for a long time and my weapon was set to full auto....hehehe.

NV is annoying and heavy though.

we had a guy come from RMC who told us all these cool stories. like one time he was in the papua i think and one guy was wearing his NV for no reason at night in the dense jungle. then the rest of the section started targetting at the trees with the IR lasers, the guy was goin skitzo cos he was freakin out.

They let cadets use the WETTS? Holy *******, count yourself lucky- getting time on those is like trying to get your hands on conflict diamonds- expensive and hard to get. And after wearing Ninox for 5 years the muscles in your neck build up to the point where you don't even notice you've got it on.

I can think of a reason why the guy in PNG was wearing his night vision at night... maybe because it was, in fact, night?

mm haha. my Unit is the largest unit in Australia, we have our own annual camp, and we were the enemy force for the region cadets.

one night an hour after they were ordered to sleep we crept up and threw these little beep grenades.basically they're beepers with a pin. you pull it and they start beeping. and if you don't have a pin. you can't turn it off.

and then the next morning we crept up again at 4am and called a stand to.

but WETTS i think is always offered to cadets....

Hey hey hip dog and cool cats, just recently returned from operations overseas with the Army, and thought you might like a squiz-

Welcome back Mr Hall, good to see you safe and sound. Nice shots.

Ha ha, cheers. I'm glad I'm back safe and sound, with no extra holes too.

Where was I deployed? Well officially I can't say, but if you look closely at the photos and go to www.defence.gov.au you'll figure it out pretty quick.

Operation Azure maybe? Am I close?
